My motherboard is an Asus Maximus VI Gene. I first plugged in the card, with adapter to the Combo PCIe card slot. Bluetooth worked, but WiFi was not detected at all. Then I moved the card to the free 8X and then 4x slot. Neither BT nor WiFi were detected in each instance.

After a bunch of Googling, one guy on a forum happened to mention that the card needed to plugged into a PCIe 1x slot, either mini or full sized variations via adapter due to how the slot provides USB functionality over PCIe. However, this was only confirmation to my problem and I've found nothing else about it.

The mini PCIe Combo card uses PCIe 2.0, while the other full sized slots are 3.0. I'm wondering if I shouldn't upgrade my motherboard. I had planned on moving to a Maximus VII Impact for the super fast M.2 slot, but if it gets me WiFI + BT and all the Continuity features that come with, then I'll gladly upgrade.
