I tried to install Yosemite on my PC, but there was a bizarre flashing screen graphics problem, an Ethernet problem, and a USB problem that made it unpleasant to use. Now I installed Niresh's Mavericks distro and everything is almost perfect. However, my computer now only transmits sound through one speaker. Headphones in the front port have loads of static, too.
I'd also like some help on how to update to 10.9.5. I did it once and broke my installation. After reading up on it a bit, I guess I should have known an update would replace the kernel and break everything. I'd just like some steps on what to do to do.
In case it's necessary, my specs are:
- Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
- Processor: AMD 6300FX
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST
- RAM: 8GB DDR3 @ 1066MHz (according to OS X, I don't remember the original frequencies)
- One 250GB and one 1TB hard drive. OS X boots off of the second drive. No problems there.
The computer also won't boot without the "npci=0x3000" and "GraphicsEnabler=No" flags in the Chameleon plist.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.
