Just me? OK, my bad...meh.
I spent 2 hours tonight freaking out that my perfectly working system was completely messed up. It is a server box (headless), so it just sits in my basement. All I did was grab one of the USB drives connected to it and went back upstairs.
When I got there, I noticed my server had disconnected. No ping, no VNC...great. I checked the ethernet cable...looks good. So I grabbed a monitor in a nearby pile and hooked it up...via VGA! Reboot, got a stalled spinner. Reboot in verbose, stalled @ IOPlatformPluginUtil warning (which is normal). Put Unibeast USB drive in, could not boot...stalled, same place. Made a myHack install drive. Still no. Wash rinse repeat...pull hair out...
I even got to the point where I started looking online for prices of Motherboards, while waiting for the myHack drive to build. Then it hit me. VGA!!! The IOPlatformPluginUtil warning comes right after DSMOS has arrived on my system. Right when the graphics system comes online.
Well, my system was booting, but once the graphics system went digital-only, my screen froze. So through about 20 reboots, my system was up and running happily, but my monitor didn't show anything after the last analog message >.<
tl;dr...Don't Use VGA =).
Oh, and the reason my server went offline. I must have tripped on the network switch cables on my way back upstairs. Cable came loose at that end.
