over the past few months I have found myself slipping further and further into the world of live and home mixed sound, a world foreign to a diehard linux and windows fan like myself. I have lately found more and more that I will need to have a mac for running shows and live mixing, but as a herald of open source and computer building, I really hate to buy from a company like apple cue the deaththreats. I have therefore arrived at the conclusion to build a hackintosh, and have drawn up this build. (effectively a copypase of tonymac's deluxe miniITX build).

As of now these are my requirements -be able to run Qlab 4 without problems -be able to run run cubebase or a similar program -be stable enough to run theater shows with out problems -be able to create an aggregate device - (its a bunch of usb sound cards linked together to give the computer a bunch more audio outputs) -be portable enough to take from home to a theater and back on a weekly basis.

My biggest worry with this rig is stability, as I have no previous experience with hackintoshs and only some with OS X itself, though I do have a fair amount of expirence with OS tweaking in ArchLinux. Will it be stable enough to run multi hour shows with out problems?

As it is a sound processing unit, I have cut down on the graphics card, as I feel that anything more expensive will be useless to me. However, will this card be powerful enough to run a projector and a screen if necessary?

how compatible is the mac OS with UEFI sound cards? I don't have one in the build right now, but I may want to add one later for better audio quality.

Finally, any general comments on the build or things I should keep in mind? Ive had experience with building pc's, but never macs. Id appreciate any kind of guidance I can get.

tldr; Building an audio editing rig, will it be stable?
