I wanted to check the SMART status of my external USB drives, but later found that OS X does not natively support it. Came across DriveDx and apparently there is a special driver that enables SMART reporting for externals on OS X, and it comes with the DriveDx software package. My only concern is whether or not installing this driver will break my hackintosh. Anyone have experience with this?
