I’m preparing my first hackintosh build and trying to choose among all the motherboard options. My goal is to have a system as close to native as possible, avoiding third-party kexts as much as possible.

I’ve narrowed my choices to Gigabyte Micro ATX and Mini ITX motherboards with the Z97 chipset. I found the following audio and ethernet combinations:

Realtek ALC892 audio + Intel and Realtek LAN Realtek ALC1150 audio + Atheros Killer E2201 LAN Realtek ALC892 audio + Realtek LAN Realtek ALC1150 audio + Atheros Killer E2201 LAN Realtek ALC887 audio + Realtek LAN

All those Realtek audio boards seem to be well supported by patching the AppleHDA kext. An alternative would be buying an inexpensive USB sound card. Ok, no problems there.

*The big question is: which ethernet chipset to choose? * Do we have native support for any of those? If not, which would be the most stable?

Thank you for your help.
