I'm interested in building a dual boot hackintosh (win/OS X), but I am new to building my own.

From reading, I understand that installing OS X with x99 chipset is still a bit difficult, as it is not natively supported. Is there any specific motherboard/CPU that is "most compatible"? When I search I get some info that points to the Asus Rampage boards, but nothing that feels definitive.

Is anyone successfully running OS X on an x99? Doing things like video, external drives, etc?

Also, do I understand correctly that eventually OS X will support the Haswell x99 chipsets? Is that basically certain, or is it just assumed?

Secondly: If I wanted to have a more stable hackintosh what would I need to buy to get similar performance to say, an i7 5230K ?
And if I built with a broadwell cpu and z97 board, would I be able to simply swap up to an x99/haswell at a later date?

Any answers, advice, or tips appreciated. Thanks.
