I don't get it and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I apologize if this is the incorrect place to post this, I'll remove it if it is.
I have been running Macintosh inside of a virtual machine for quite some time because installing as a host is just too complicated sometimes and a guest is almost always doable. I began with Mavericks which ran just fine. Of course I couldn't just upgrade from Mavericks into Yosemite so I had to upgrade as a whole new machine.
But for some reason, it is running incredibly slow. Mavericks ran just fine, but Yosemite does not. The animations of the dock are slow and the animations and loads of applications are slow as well.
I have 16 GB of RAM in this laptop so I've allowed 6.5 GB to be used by Yosemite. I usually also try to run VMWare alone with no other applications open on the host (Windows 8.1) and no other virtual machines running alongside Yosemite. This isn't preventing me from using Yosemite and its applications but its lag just bothers me and I'd like to fix it if possible.
Is anyone else experiencing this or might know what's causing this issue?
