Hi! Ok, first some short background. I will be using my hackintosh mainly for virtualization and gaming. I'm a sysadmin, so i will be running more than one OS on virtual machines hosted on OSX, mostly for testing purposes (no production stuff).
Also, i like gaming. I'm not a UBER hardcore gamer, but i like my games to look good.
I have a budget of around 1500€ (monitor included). Here's what i came up with :
(Note : My formatting is awful!! Sorry about that)
| Part | |
|---|---|
| Motherboard | Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H |
| CPU | Intel i5-4690k 3,5 |
| GPU | GeForce GTX 970 |
| RAM | Crucial Balistix Tactical 16 GB |
| SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB |
| HDD | Seagate 1TB |
| Power | Corsair CS650M |
| Case | Bitfenix Phenom (White) |
| Cooling | Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO |
| WiFi | TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 3 |
| Monitor | ASUS VX239W 23" White |
There's also some stuff that worry me a bit.
1) Should i switch to i7, since i will be doing some virtualization?
2) Is any of the parts really overkill? Trying to cut some corners
3) Better cooling option? I was thinking Noctua NH-D15, but i'm not sure if it will fit.
This is my first time building a hackintosh, so i want to make this as seamless as possible. Also, i would like to keep the whole system as silent as possible, and to keep the energy consumption on the low.
Thank you!
