I'm probably just a nuisance here but the harddrive failed on my Macbook Pro recently. Given that the thing's display is also busted, I've been using a thunderbolt exterior display setup which only recognises the display when OS is running; IE, I can't reinstall on the unit vanilla.

What I'm trying to do is get an install in virtual machine, then write out a vanilla installation of any version to the laptop drive then whack the drive into the laptop and do whatever updates I need to.

I've tried a bunch of ISOs so far, as well as a few hit-f5-bootstrap isos which all turn pitch black when trying to go to desktop. I've tried args -x -v -cpus=4 busratio=20 which results in a verbose boot then a black screen.

I'm sort of shitting bricks seeing as I'm doing this on my husband's machine and given how incessant he is about his gear, he won't let me try while he's here so I'm going to be without a computer for a few weeks (yes he's kind of a dick; even if I put out, no computer).

Help me Hackintosh, you're my only hope.
