How to legally obtain .iso for use as installer in Virtualbox?

Hi,

I read somewhere while Googling that one of the older OSX versions was Open-Source & could be used legally as an install medium. Could someone who knows about these things help & provide a d/l link of whichever release this is?

I'd like to install a Mac variant in Virtualbox just to check out what all the hype about Macs is.
