Hi /r/hackintosh,
I am currently trying to replace my GTX 970 with a 7770, because I want to use the former in a different computer, but I can't seem to get it to work, although it is supposed to work OOTB.
Here's my remaining hardware:
- a Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
- an i5 3690k
- a Dell P2415Q connected via DisplayPort.
My system definition is set to an iMac 14,1 and I am using clover as my boot loader.
I am using a patched DSDT that is based on Pjalm's patches for my mobo, but it doesn't contain anything graphic card specific.
What I tried so far:
- remove the nVidia web drivers from OS X and the Geforce from its slot
- plug in the Radeon card, boot with nv_disable=1 and without caches, just to be on the sure side.
but the screen remains blank. It shows me the normal booting bar and right when it is supposed to show the GUI the screen turns black and never turns on.
I then tried to set the card to a specific frame buffer by setting "Inject ATi" to "yes" in the clover config and just tried all of them: Ikura, IkuraS, OPM, Hamachi, Futomaki, Gari, Ebi, Dashiki, Chutoro, Aji and Buri, but no dice.
With most of these, OS X would proceed to boot normally and then try to switch from the loading screen (or verbose screen) and then remain black. There were two, AFAIR, where booting would hang beforehand.
Strangely, I can make it boot into safe mode, but no QE/CI is obviously no fun ;)
I feel like I am missing something obvious here, so I'm appreciative of any nudging or help. Tell me if you wanna look at my config.plist, DSDT, IOreg, or anything.
