So, a few days ago, I decided to take the plunge and attempt to install the El Capitan GM onto my Dell XPS L702x hackintosh running Yosemite.

However, while attempting to, I managed to somehow ruin the HFS filesystem that Yosemite had, which isn't a big deal to me.. I really had nothing important on there, and I already have the El Capitan installer made that I made using a command similar to: sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Install OS X El Capitan GM Candidate.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Install OS X El Capitan GM.app --nointeraction

I'm still attempting to use the previous Clover bootloader I was using for Yosemite (which is fully updated to 3259)...

However, when I try to boot off of the El Capitan USB, the activity light on the USB drive stops flashing, and I get stuck at:

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string> <key><IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

Okay, just some quick background.. While installing Yosemite, I had a similar issue where the boot into the installer would hang and I would get:

Still waiting for root device

It seems that my computer just doesn't like booting into OS X installers without some tinkering.

I wish I remembered the exact settings I used to get into the Yosemite installer, but I don't.

THINGS I'VE TRIED:

-v

-f

-x

PCIRootUID=1 and PCIRootUID=0

USBBusFix=Yes

USBLegacyOff=Yes

UseKernelCache=No

dart=0

slide=0

npci=0x3000

npci=0x2000

(now I've tried many combinations of these, but not every combination, so it may be possible that I'm simply using the wrong ones in the wrong combination?)

I also have an SSDT-2.aml and SSDT-4.aml in my /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder and an SLIC.aml file in my /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/WINDOWS folder.

I have the GenericUSBXHCI.kext in my CLOVER kexts folder (under Other if it matters)...

Sorry if it seems like a lot of information, but I'm trying to give you guys as much as I can.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
