This wonderful program STILL WORKS under Mavericks 10.9.5, and possibly even Yosemite (untested at the moment).
Did a full 4GB backup of all my Gmail messages recently... Surprised to see this still working after so long unmaintained...
You will need to allow less secure access until the backup is complete...

All backups are organised in subfolders, with every message being a separate .eml file, readable in Thunderbird or Outlook :-)
I'd run it overnight if you have more than a few hundred megabytes used... It does take some time...
