I am running an 2500k on a Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3, a Gigabyte ATI Radeon 6850 OC, 16GB 1333 ram in a Coolermaster CM690 case with a hyper12 HSF.
Chip runs stable in win8 at 4.8GHz at 1.35vCore. Maybe it would go to 5, but my temps were getting too hot for my comfort after a few hours of Prime95. I have no AC in this room (music studio) so in the summer it's been getting pretty hot.
At 4.5 it's perfectly stable and temps are generally 75º while stress testing (IBT or Prime95).
10.9.2 was booting but not showing the OC, so after googling for a couple of days, I found that upgrading the OS made some people's OC show up in the OS, so I got the combo update.
OSX 10.9.5 won't boot with it overclocked at all! I try 4.6, 4.4, 4.7 even! Every time it throws a kernel panic over the white apple boot screen, even with the null power management kext installed via multibeast
What am I missing? What changed when I updated from 10.9.2 to 10.9.5
