I'm about to pull the trigger on my first modern hackintosh build (played with it back in the early days), and wanted to run it by everyone here first and see if this looked like a good system to get started. I'm hoping to put together a decent build for around 2k.
I'll be triple booting OSX, Linux, and Windows -- and likely running VMs, CAD software, the Adobe suite, as well as some VR work -- lots of media and design applications basically.
The big limiting factors have been wanted to run discrete graphics to my thunderbolt display, and trying to build something that can be reliable enough to get this thing up and running quickly. I was thinking x99 could be worth it for more than 4 cores, but was concerned that skylake plus thunderbolt would just end up being too difficult to get moving for essentially a first timer.
I'd also love to build it a little future proof so I can potentially SLI another 980ti down the line. I've been doing some CUDA heavy work as of late.
Thanks!
