My 2010 27" iMac is getting long in the tooth so I decided to take another look at going with a Hackintosh. My CentOS6 file server just threw a rod and I replaced it with a RaspberryPi2 (which rules), so I had a few parts already. I was almost able to get exactly the recommended parts, all used or refurb'd on eBay or Amazon. I initially wanted to go with a 3rd gen set-up, but it seems that the price point is with the 4th gen. It's just that wave of people upgrading to the new stuff right now I guess.
I was really on the fence about the monitor. I almost went with the Monoprice 28" 4k or either the Samsung or Asus, but dumb luck, I found one of the highest rated IPS 4k monitors for photo editing refurb'd for about the same price. How'd I do?
