I have posted many times here before asking for help/advice and after a frustrating 3 months a tick box and an autorun script had my dual boot HTPC/Gaming hack running perfectly. I'm going to try and document the journey so it can be of use to others.

The build

I wanted to do this as cheap as possible, without making things hard/getting crap. I have no real need for a Hack but fancied learning how to build one. I also wanted this to be as small as possible so I could hide it in my living room. I ended up with this parts list, but with a second hand CPU, SSD(s) and £50 Amazon vouchers I got from my energy supplier the total cost came in at around £300.

Instal 01

As I was going dual boot I used this guide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfg1wSGgNXk OS X installed pretty hassle, W10 on the other hand, was being a pain. Turned out I might of done something wrong so I erased and started again.

Instal 02 + 03

I can't remember what went wrong with these, but if I remember I will update. It did get to a point where I could no longer get to the installer though, I got to the black "your mac didnt shut down" screen and went into a loop. I could boot to windows and tried to erase the OS X partition from there but that didnt work - think it left the EFI part.

Instal 04

Bought the second SSD. Lets start afresh. One for each OS. And now I had my GPU (earlier builds were GPU free). W 10 still running perfectly and gaming nicely. Now, I had issues with trying to use the GPU before, on instal 03, but this time I was installing iwth it already fitted, to do so I had to do it a certain way... 1. BIOS > Set primary display output to iGPU.nbsp; 2. Plug HDMI cable into Mobo HDMI port.nbsp; 3. Run the installer, at clover bootscreen add nv_disable=1 to the boot flags / arg.nbsp; 4. Once booted into OS X instal Nvidia web drivers. I used the latest. I heard the ones for 10.11.2 were a bit dodgy though (i'm on 10.11.3).nbsp; 5. Reboot.nbsp; 6. BIOS > Set initial display output to PCIE.nbsp; 7. Shutdown.nbsp; 8. Boot, black screen.nbsp; 9. Panic.nbsp; 10. More panic.nbsp; 11. Shut down.nbsp; 12. Boot.nbsp; 13. All fine.nbsp; 14. Profit.nbsp;

Wifi and Bluetooth worked out of the box, no drivers or kexts.

This latest instal I had no HDMI audio, or any output options at all, this is where it got tricky, I hunted out every single guide and kekt I could find and none worked. Toledas guides drove me mad as they are not really guides but a list of commands for those who know what they are doing, which I am far from. A very kind chap from here even spent hours on Team Viewer with me trying to get it to work and still nothing. Back to Toleda, and after amny a deep breath engaged. Got somewhere pretty quick - my AppleHDA.kext was corrupt, prob something I did along the way messed with it (I installed Voodoo which I hear is pretty "hacky").

Instal 05

Repeated 1-14.

Installed "golden HDMI kext" from Macrumors. No luck. Another 3-4 hours on Team Viewer including full EFO folder swaps (we had similar systems) and still nothing and my boot time doubled. I hate long boot times. Then, one morning, knowing it wasnt going to do anyhtign really, I swapped my old EFI folder back in and ran Multibeast again, ticking boxes I knew were for the correct drivers but I didn't need (ethernet) and all the Fake SMC ones just for fun. Next thing I know I have All my sound outputs except for HDMI Audio. Finally, some progress! Back to Toleda, and resisting any other guides as if you try something he hasn't written he will give no help. Tried his auto instal file and nothing, wasnt going to bother reporting that problem as I felt I was getting somewhere with the SSDT files but mentioned it anyway. nbsp; Turns out if oyu have DropOoem = Yes it causes detection errors in the script. Unticked it using Clover config and it ran! 1st try I selected HD4600 and it patched it. Didnt patch my GPU though. Second time I hit "N" for instal HD4600 (I have it but not using it) and it went through and installed HDMI Audio for my GPU. Reboot. Oh. My. God. It. All. Works.

Completely lost my shit, shirt off, spraying cans of beer everywhere, sounding the airhorn, the lot. This is a big wall of text, I will try and format the best I can, hope this ramble can be of help to other people.

I'm unable to boot W10 from Clover and have to go through the BIOS menu (F12) but thats no more hassle than the regular Bootcamp procedure since BootCHAMP doesn't work in El Cap so I am not too bothered, that and the fact I dare not tinker with any mroe settings for fear it will break my now perfect Hack (ok, iMessages doesn't work, but I dont use that).
