Below is the full text of my post on /r/buildapc. Will OSX run happily on this? My friend is not a very strong user so I'd like to avoid as many potential issues as possible.
Additionally, what do you know now that you wish you'd known before starting your first Hackintosh project?
Purpose: An budget-friendly, OSX capable PC viable for 1080p gaming with room to grow.
My buddy has had it with playing games on his aging Macbook, and has decided to sell it and build a PC instead. He's a bit overwhelmed, so I'm helping him choose parts. I expect we'll be working with a budget of roughly $600.
We'd like this computer to be able to dual-boot Windows and OSX, as he prefers OSX for most things. I've chosen Nvidia for his graphics since there's less to worry about overall, and I've read it has fewer compatibility issues with OSX. He has also expressed an interest in overclocking, but a K processor is out of our budget range for now.
I've tried to leave it room to grow up to be an overclocking 4K rig. My main concerns at this point are OSX compatibility (this would be my first Hackintosh, and I am not a Mac user) and the PSU (because I'm paranoid about them). Any advice?
