Hey there!

I'm about to do the switch after many years of pure Mac. I want a PC for VR and 3D rendering, but might as well slap OSX on there too and keep my current workflow. I'll be waiting until Monday's keynote to buy everything, but honestly I don't have much hope.

I have a couple of questions about my build (specs below). Note that I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. Budget is undefined but I want to go all out on GPU/CPU and cheap out on other things I can upgrade when my wallet hurts less.

  • Is the motherboard any good? Will I have any foreseeable trouble? Is there a better one I should get?
  • Will I need anything else in that list? I literally have no extra tools or hardware lying around.
  • How stupid am-I for dual booting? Which Windows version should I prefer for such purpose?
  • Will the 980Ti play nice? Hard to find info on that...
  • Will you guys still love me when I stop using a throwaway and join the community for real because right now I'm too ashamed to link my account with that much incompetence?
