Over the last few days my trusty 9800GTX has started throwing random fits. Initially I got artifacts during desktop usage (wavy pixelated lines). It also locks up the computer. The weird thing is that the mouse seems to still work although nothing is clickable. Keyboard doesn't do anything. Sometimes sound will come back eventually. When I powered off, switched to the other DVI port and rebooted, I briefly saw random colored pixels sprinkled all over the BIOS POST.
The hackintosh also locks up coming out of sleep more and more often. Mind you this is a system that ran perfectly fine just 2 weeks ago.
Now the 9800gtx runs pretty much OOTB on fresh installs. No webdriver or kext fiddling necessary. I am thinking of possibly upgrading to a GTX750Ti-OC or GTX 950. The latter one would then be a Palit branded single fan version.
Does anyone have experience with 9800GTX cards behaving this way? Maybe know of a 950 model that works OOTB? Would it even be worth spending €40 more on a 950 over a 750Ti-OC?
Any and all help and / or advice is welcome!
