Hey Guys,

Just recently getting into trying to install OSX on my custom build. I am fairly new to using UEFI Boots and installing OSX on customer hardware in general, but still I managed to get El Capitan up and running on my build, but I ran into quite a few problems that I am hoping you can give me some guidance on.

Here are my build specs,

  • Asus Z97 Fatality Killer Mobo
  • Intel i5-4690k
  • MSI Radeon R9 390
  • WD 150 GB Internal HD

After following some tutorials on Tonymac, I was able to get El Capitan working. Currently, I have 3 storage devices in my computer. First is a 250GB SSD that runs windows, second on is a 150GB HD that has El Capitan installed on, and the 3rd is a 1 TB storage hard drive for my media.

So here are the problems I have found so far:

  • I currently have my SSD set as a primary boot partition. If I want to boot into El Capitan, I have to insert the USB that has my El Capitan install on, and boot from it to get to the UEFI menu. Essentially, I have to boot from the USB to see the UEFI menu. How can I see a UEFI Menu without the flash drive, do I need to install a UEFI utility on my windows partition?

  • I have no sound output devices. I have tried to load Realtek ALC1150 Kext using Multibeast, I have tried Toledas ALC_Clover scripts. I tried setting my audio ID to 1, 2 and 3, but still no luck

  • When I wake the computer from sleep, I get no picture. My CPU Turns on but my monitor just shows “No signal, going to sleep”

I’d love to get your guys’ advice on how I can go about fixing these issues. Thank you for your time and help!
