Hey, ladies and gents. I've had a functioning hack dual booting Win7 (now Win10) and OS X (initially Lion, now Yosemite) for some time now.
After my upgrade to Yosemite I stopped using the OS X side for quite awhile and have recently been back to using it regularly. I've noticed that, as the title says, upon boot I get the splash screen with the apple logo and the progress bar every. single. time.
This wouldn't bother me too much, but it can take between 3 and 20 seconds for it to hit the half-way mark (which is the point that OS X finishes booting).
I've done some searching and found that, with real macs, most folks say this is indicative of imminent hard drive failure. I've never had a drive fail and it's been doing this since my update to Yosemite, so I'm not entirely convinced (though not ruling out) of that possibility.
Anyone ever had this issue before? Any known fixes or, generally, an idea of what's causing it at all?
Thanks, folks.
