My two old macbook pros are quickly reaching their end of life cycle, so as every couple of years I was trying to read up on the state of hackintosh laptops. The nvidia Optimus problem sadly still exists, but apparently there seem to be ways to switch the GPU, and get both working in osx - I don't really care about automatic switching or simultaneous dual graphics.
I am a video editor so with Adobe premiere or davinci resolve I definitely need a more powerful gpu than IntelHD. I don't mind manually switching the GPU even if it means entering the bios to do that (although a Gui tool would be nicer). So can somebody enlighten me what good laptop options are that would allow that?
BTW I would totally buy a macbook again since I love the quality of these machines but the ONLY option with discreet gpu is the top macbook pro model, which is sold for around 2500€ in Europe. I consider that too much, even for an apple so it's time to say bye-bye.
