I rocked a Hackintosh (several, actually) exclusively from 2009 through 2012 before finally giving up and switching to a legit Mac Mini. I mostly loved my Hackintoshes but got too frustrated at the egregious amount of time and hassle necessary to upgrade the OS -- including even simple point releases. System upgrades popping up in the update center became a time of high anxiety. It wasn't worth it and so I switched back to the legit world.

Well... I'm getting very irritated at the state of Apple hardware again and am casting my eye back towards the Hackintosh route.

What I want to know, though, is if the upgrade fiascos are a relic of the past or if it still remains a notable point of contention even today, with the latest Hackintosh loaders and such?

That is, if I build a Hackintosh with very well known parts, could I expect to be able to upgrade the OS with impunity from now on?
