Hi,

So, this is something I'm really struggling with. It seems that every time I try to use my Hackintosh I end up just going back to my MBP. While I like the faster hardware of the Hackintosh compared to the laptop, there's always the problem of synchronisation: even though I have Dropbox/ownCloud, iCloud and Mackup set up, sometimes I'm working on projects that aren't in those directories, or I'm missing an application I need which wasn't on the Appstore so now I've got to download it and go find the license email the vendor sent me some time in 2011, or an app doesn't sync it's preferences so now I have to take 30 minutes to set it up again. You get the gist.

If the desktop were a real Mac this would be a non-issue, as I could just connect them via Thunderbolt and boot the desktop using the MBP's OS (in Target Disk Mode). This would be amazing since you could work on the go, shutdown the laptop with the 'reopen windows' tick mark checked and boot the exact same state using the desktop hardware. No synchronisation needed at all and you get the benefits of always using the faster hardware. If this would work, I'd probably even ditch the clunky old rMBP and go for something lighter like a MacBook Air or even a regular MacBook. Alas, it isn't that easy, since I couldn't find anything that this is possible on a Hackintosh at all.

So now, instead I need crutches. What would be the best way to keep the two computers in sync? What do you use? Or maybe someone even managed to get the Target Disk Mode to work?
