About this Mac: amount of Ram varies wildly

Hello fellow hacksters,

I have 32 GB ram installed, but when I check "about this mac" sometimes it reports 24 GB ram, sometimes 76, sometimes 48. It changes everytime I restart my computer.

How can I fix this? Is it just a harmless glitch or a sign of something worse?
