So basically I have been thinking about this for awhile now. I have a haswell HP Envy 15, which has both HD4600 graphics and a GT740M. The screen is awful on it, so I want to connect a 27 inch Apple LED Cinema display.
The problem is, while I'm sure the GT740M can push the 2560x1440 of the Apple display, I don't know if my IGPU can, since the nvidia card doesn't work in OS X.
The other issue is how to connect the display and whether I can use the full 2560x1440 60Hz. I only have HDMI out on my notebook, and the Cinema display has a mini-displayport as its input.
There are a lot of adapters, but most of them are designed to connect an old Mac with mini-DP to a display with HDMI in. Some of them can only push 1080p.
Would anyone know whether this would be achievable and advise on the type(s) of connector I'd have to use? I'm in the UK, so UK links would be much appreciated. Thanks.
