Hi! My goal is to build a nice low-end hackintosh for my girlfriend. I mean low-end in the way a power user would notice, but not in the way that would affect her enjoyment/use of it. Just general youtube watching, facebook scrolling stuff, but also for her basic word processing uni work.
She has her heart set on an iMac but we would struggle to afford it so we're trying to come up with a solution here that would work.
Q1: Which ITX motherboard should I use? Ideally with working WIFI.
Q2: Any cost reducing solutions? Don't wanna compromise the SSD for example, but maybe I could be convinced to drop the i5 6500 for an i3 6100. My goal is just to make sure she doesn't notice the PC getting slower at basic tasks for a good few years.
Living in Australia so that complicates things. We prefer stuff from [PCCaseGear](pccasegear.com] but any Australian store should be fine.
No budget as such, trying to to build something she'll enjoy using as much as she would an iMac. If I had to choose, I'd be hoping for <AUD800.
Peripherals: she needs a monitor and mouse (unfortunately she wants the goddamn $129 apple mouse)
Holding off on ram choice until I have a better idea of mobos, but obviously will go with at least 8gb.
