So I've been trying to install El Capitan on an early 2009 white unibody Macbook (not a pro, just a Macbook). Upon initially installing 10.11, OSX doesn't recognize the wireless card that came in the Macbook. I did some digging and noticed that the IO802011Family.kext that comes default with 10.11 doesn't have support for the Atheros 252x card the Macbook has.
I grabbed a copy of 10.7 and installed it onto the Macbook, and lo, the WiFi card is recognized and I can easily connect to WiFi, cool. I grabbed a copy of the entire extensions folder and made a Time Machine backup of 10.7 just in case I had (or have) to roll back.
I go through the process of reinstalling 10.11, boot it up and use Kext Wizard to install the IO802011Family.kext that I snatched from 10.7. I deleted the WiFi configuration files in the SystemConfiguration folder and rebooted. But this is where my current problem begins:
OSX now recognizes the WiFi card, but it searches infinitely for wireless networks and won't connect to any networks that I manually try to add. I've dug around quite a few places for a solution but have yet to find one. If anyone has any ideas or a possible fix I can try I'd be very thankful.
