Recently built a new hackintosh (running Mavericks) with the help of the guide on tonymac. Everything had been running very well until today I tried to plug a powered usb device into the back; when I touched the I/O shield at the back the whole computer powered off.

When I logged back in to my account all my settings had gone! So I checked my second HDD and all my stuff was still there; confused, I looked at my account settings and saw my home folder was all correct, but just to be sure I changed it again to the home folder on my second HDD. The path then pointed to the name of my second HDD_1 instead of what it should be called (just 'HDD'), and I should have twigged that this was not going to end well.

I then rebooted and tried to login only to be confronted by a spiny wheel in the password window and the error, 'You are unable to log in to the user account "MrCoolManTim" at this time'.

I have verified the disk with disk utility and there is nothing wrong but I still have no access to my mac and deadlines coming up soon!

Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance!
