I've been trying to install Mavericks to a Dell 13z 5323 laptop that is otherwise sitting idle. This has an i3-3227U Ivy Bridge CPU with the Intel 4000 HD graphics. This laptop only has USB3 ports and I think this is a good portion of my problem because no USB2 devices (keyboard or mouse) are recognized, however the internal keyboard does start working after I attach a USB2 device and I can use keyboard shortcuts to get to the point where a disk should be presented, but there is nothing listed.

At this point, the internal trackpad is not working so I'm not able to get further. I understand USB3 is generally supported, only after installation. (I'm very familiar with OS X, having used Macs for 14+ years.) I'm fairly sure I could disassemble the laptop and put the hard drive into an enclosure and install Mavericks this way, but I'd prefer to avoid this if possible. Any sage words or links to other posts that might be of assistance?

Thanks!
