I've been trying my best to get a bootable USB drive put together to install Mavericks on my desktop. I bought a Retina MacBook Pro last month and it doesn't have the "Install Mac OS X Mavericks.app" in the applications folder. It also can't be downloaded from the app store on the rMBP I have. It just says it can't be installed on this computer.

I have followed a couple of other guides on how to make a bootable USB from the InstallESD.dmg package that I was able to get when doing a restore to the USB drive. However, I can't get that installer to work. It always dies at waiting for dsmos when running the installer in verbose. I've tried all options I could find to get around it but I'm curious if the bootable USB was just never set up properly. I couldn't use UniBeast or DiskMaker X for example as they show an invalid "Install Mac OS X Mavericks.app". Has anyone been successful in creating a bootable USB Mavericks installer with the late 2013 rMBP?
