I'm currently running 10.8.2 which isn't really old, but still due for a few upgrades.
I read the article in the side bar.
I've also read a few pitfalls with 10.8.5.
I tried following what the article said to do, so I grabbed the 10.9.1 combo and it will not run stating "This software is not supported on your system."
So with that being said, I'm wondering what's going to be my easiest path for install.
I'm running:
coreI7 Ivy
eVGA GTX470
audio line out using on motherboard
USB bluetooth
onboard Gigabit using AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext
Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series - 256GB
USB 3 using AppleUSBXHCI
I've always just reinstalled OSX when it's came time to updates before, so I'm a little outside my comfort zone here.
