Hi,

I have an HP ENVY dv4 currently dual-booting Win8 and Ubuntu, I would like to install OSX on it, and I have a few questions.

  1. Which version of OSX should I install initially? Lion of Snow Leopard?

  2. Is it safe to update to Mavericks?

  3. Is the installation around as difficult as setting up a Win8 Debian-based-Linux dual-boot? Which wasn't that difficult, I just read instructions and it worked fine.

  4. Can I triple-boot with Linux (Ubuntu ATM), or should I just dual-boot with Win8?

  5. I have an Intel Centrino wireless card. I think they don't work on OSX. Should I give up, or not? If not, How hard is it to install an Atheros card, if it's possible?

SPECS:

  • Intel i5 3210M @2.5 Ghz; I know this'll work because it's the same CPU that's used in June 2012 MBP's.

  • Intel HD 4000; Same as above.

  • 8 GB DDR3 RAM @1600MHz; may or may not work, IIRC, Macs use 1333MHz.

  • Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230; I'm 99% sure this won't work.

  • 750GB 7200RPM HDD

  • Some kind of BEATS soundcard; I doubt this'll work.

  • Synaptics touchpad; I think these work, according to Google at least.

Thanks in advance!
