I’ve been looking into building a Hackintosh for a couple weeks now and have a few general questions before I start spending money and more time doing research.

  1. How long does it take for Apple updates to become available to Hackintosh users, I know Mavericks is available now so it can’t be too long, but what is the average?

  2. I’ve read that building a Hack is easier now than it ever has been, why is this and do you think this trend will continue?

  3. Is there any performance decrease from a real mac, maybe because OSX isn’t optimized for pc hardware?

  4. I keep reading about how iMessages isn't working for people and some act as if it is expected. I realize that a Hackintosh is not a real Mac but I want OSX to be exactly the same. Is this possible and is there a "best" motherboard that doesn't experience any issues?

These two aren't specific to Hacks but,

  1. I want to have the fastest boot and snappiest app launch times possible, what is the best way to do this? Is going SSD the only way or will ram help as well?

  2. Will using a ITX mobo limit my ability to upgrade/expand in the future?

Thanks in advance, this got buried a little while ago any feedback is appreciated.
