This might be a dumb question, but I'm going to be building a system with a Gigabyte GA-H87N-WiFi, which has two gigabit ethernet ports. I was wondering if I could use one ethernet port as an input and one as an output for my laptop. I was thinking I might be able to do Internet sharing from ethernet-ethernet?
If that doesn't work, is it going to be harmful to share internet from my desktop over WiFi by leaving it on constantly?
I'm still going to be living in a dorm room next year and I'm only provided with one ethernet port. I'm also not allowed to use a router, so my only other option would be buying a switch or hub.
