I'm on an Ivy Bridge-E system, and everything is solid, except that GraphicsEnabler seems to work randomly. I have two graphics cards in my system (for Da Vinci Resolve), and booting Mavericks seems to be a crapshoot for which card it will choose to boot with.
It started when I installed Mavericks, and added my PCI-e cards one at a time - GraphicsEnabler seemed to swap requirements every time I added a card. Now I can't seem to find a reason.
For example, I'll boot with GraphicsEnabler=Yes (which had previously worked), and I'll get a blank screen after the Apple Logo/verbose boot. Switching my monitor to the secondary GPU will reveal the login screen. After logging in, I'll open my boot.plist and change GraphicsEnabler to No. Reboot, and everything comes up fine on my primary GPU.
Later, I'll boot up again, and I get the blank screen again, having to switch to the second GPU, I change GraphicsEnabler to Yes, reboot, and everything works correctly again.
I go through this dance every few boots (or more often), without any hardware or software changes. Does anybody have any ideas on what could be happening, and how to nail it down?
System specs:
- Asus P9X79-Pro
- i7-4930K
- 32GB RAM
- Gigabyte GTX 770
- BMD Decklink Mini Monitor
- EVGA GTX 570
