My macbook pro of 5 yes is really starting to show it's age and as funds are limited my options are either a souped up mac mini, the low end macbook 13" or building a customac.
I was looking at the October tonymac recommendations and am thinking of building out the customac (matx) using these options GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 Intel Core i5-4690K GeForce GTX 760
My goal is to build a dual boot running win8.1 and Mavericks. I'll be using this machine everyday for my day job doing frontend development and running a rails server on the Mavericks side, so I need to have everything pretty stable. I'll be using the win side for testing and running steam. I don't need wifi or bluetooth but do need it to run my asus 2550x1440 monitor over display port. iMessage would be nice but not critical.
So my Questions...
Are there any problems running a 2550 x 1440 monitor?
On a dual boot would it be possible to use parallels or similar software to run the windows disk so I can code in Mavericks and do testing in IE?
Will the machine be stable enough and functional using Unibeast/Chimera install or would taking the plunge into Clover give me better results?
Realistically, having built a couple windows machines before, but never having built a hackintosh, should I be able to get the machine running smoothly in under 20 hours of total build time?
If there are any problems I should prepare myself for or look out for, I'd appreciate hearing everyones advice. Thanks in advance for your help.
