Build:

  • GA-Z97N-WIFI

  • i7-4790K Haswell

  • ASUS Strix GTX 970 -> HDMI -> Denon AVR-E400 -> HDMI -> Panasonic TC-L32U3 32" LCD HDTV

  • 16GB DDR3 2400 Corsair Vengeance

  • Samsung Evo 840 120GB SSD - Yosemite w/ Clover UEFI

  • Crucial M4 128GB SSD - Windows 8.1 UEFI

  • Corsair CS550M PSU

Works:

  • iCloud/iMessage/AppStore etc.

  • Ethernet

  • HDMI Audio

  • GTX 970 Web Drivers

No Bluetooth/WiFi (Handoff) until Apple Broadcom BCM94360CD + Mini PCI-E Adapter arrives from China.

Problem:

With ASUS GTX 670, UEFI and Clover screen are visible via HDMI but with ASUS Strix GTX 970 the UEFI and Clover screen are completely black via HDMI but the computer proceeds to load. If I memorize the boot options on the Clover screen, I can still select either OS and boot normally (though I can't see anything until the login screen for Yosemite/Windows 8.1. No Apple Logo or Windows Logo Progress). Once I get to the login screen for both OSes, the picture comes back and everything is recognized properly and all hardware works fine via HDMI (I'm typing this from Yosemite).

I thought it might be a UEFI setting issue, but I've made sure to select PCI-E for UEFI output and turned off IGX. It's configured for UEFI+Legacy, Secure/Fast Boot Off etc. Is this a motherboard/GTX 970 (vBios)/HDMI specific issue? Am I missing a setting for config.plist on the Clover EFI partition that's causing the UEFI and bootloader output to be black via HDMI Pre-OS?
