Firstly I'd like to say thanks for anyone who can offer some advice. Also sorry if this isn't the right place for this!

Here's the situation. I just graduated undergrad with a degree in Digital Art, and currently am searching for freelance design work as well as a more permeant job. My wife just got into grad school and is using my current laptop while I've started using my old laptop. I need a system that will be able to drive 2 monitors, edit RAW photos in Lightroom/Photoshop, design through Illustrator and InDesign, and handle some occasional HD video work and some audio work. My current laptop did this pretty good but as I said my wife is now using that.

So... My options are to build a hackintosh, buy an old mac pro, or buy a used laptop for my wife and take mine back and get an external monitor.

Here are some specs to help.

Current MBP

2.9 GHz Intel i7 - 2 Core

8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Ram

Intel HD Graphics 4000 512MB

Early 2008 Mac Pro - found on Craigslist for $800

2 X 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

32GB 667MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB

Hackintosh

4.4GHz Quad Core Intel Core i7 - 4790K

16GB 1600MHz DDR3 Ram

EVGA GeForce GTX760 2GB

Seems like the older Mac Pro is the way to go since it is an 8 core, and faster, and more ram... but maybe I'm wrong?
