I've had a stable hackintosh build of 10.10 for just over 2 months, the last 3 weekends I started getting kernel panics. Couldn't figure out what the exact issue was, I think it had to do with the firewire card / devices I use as if I booted up without them turned on everything worked but if they were turned on about 4 mins in everything would lock up. But after searching and searching I found 0 answers as the firewire card I have is supposed to work out of box. Narrowed it down to some software I installed shortly before the first panic, uninstalled and it still gave me panic.
So I reformatted because getting this up and running the first time only took about 2 hours. Clean install of 10.10 no problem. Ran multibeast with the settings from this post (http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/138210-progress-ga-z97x-ud7-th-i7-4790k-32gb-gtx-770-10-9-4-a.html) I've gotten everything back up and running for the most part, except this machine is used for music production and I have two focusrite pro 40's that I need to use. After trying to install the mixcontrol software, the system will restart and then hang. I do not have any pictures of the panic, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this? After the mixcontrol install, I'll boot in -v and it doesn't throw any panics up but it looks like it's frozen on loading something right after initializing the firewire card? I'd let it sit there for about 15 or 20 minutes and will have no progress so I do a reboot and than that's when I start getting some panics. Could my fireware card be bad? How do I check that on the system? I did notice on a clean boot with no multibeast, it will recognize 1 800 firewire port and then after multibeast there is nothing there (found by going to about this mac and running system report)
Any suggestions? I haven't tried to get thunderbolt working (I have zero devices that need it right now) but anyone have experience with running this board and thunderbolt to firewire?
TL;DR Reformatted to clean boot, something is happening after installing mixcontrol software from focusrite for PRO 40 interfaces. Not sure if firewire card is bad?
