I built a Hackintosh back in the days of Tiger, so this is technically not my first go round. I've owned several "real" Macs since 2008, and now am embarking down the hackintosh path again.
I recently bought an Apple refurb 27" imac, and paid 1399 for it plus tax. Much to my dismay, it won't play higher end games like GTA 5. So, I looked up some specs on Tonymacx86 (no I didn't use his referral links) and ordered the following from Amazon last night:
- Bit Fenix No Power Supply Mini-ITX Tower Case BFC-PHE-300
- Gigabyte LGA 1150 Intel Z97N IWi-Fi-Bluetooth HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX DDR3 1600 Motherboards GA-Z97N-WIFI
- Crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 UDIMM RAM
- Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)
Of course, I ordered all the other stuff to go with it too, scored a deal on some monitors for a dual monitor setup, and saved about $500 in the meantime.
The iMac is being returned today, thanks to Apple's no questions asked 14 day return policy.
I look forward to any information I can gain from you all, so thanks in advance.
