I'm in the process of compiling parts for my first Hackintosh build. I will be dual-booting and have separate 256GB SSDs for OSX and Windows. I have not, however, figured out how I want to go for data and backup storage.

I assume that I should/must keep data (including documents, photos, music, etc.) segregated by OS. Is it better to go with separate HDDs for that purpose, or just get a large drive and create OSX and Windows partitions?

With respect to backup, I typically keep bootable OS backups and usually use external drives for that purpose. However, since I am putting this together from scratch, any reason not to use an internal drive? If so, would there be any issue using a single partitioned drive?
