Hi all. I have been holding off updating to Yosemite due to two things. nvRAM kext was not working under 10.10 (it is fixed and working now), and Clover not working.
I have a UEFI BIOS (MSI P67A-GD55[B3] with BIOS 4.3). I just discovered that I can no longer downgrade the BIOS since switching to MEI8 :-(
In my boot pop-up, there is no drives that appear with (EFI) before or after them, only the UEFI command line option. There is no option to disable/enable Legact boot either (I assume that is automatic based on boot drive selection).
I have tried Clover twice before, and both times I believe I was not booting from the EFI selection, and therefore boot failed. I did not copy any extra kexts or files to /EFI partition (I am a n00b, so sue me!). Also, I may be wrong about this being setup for UEFI booting. I assume I need to copy FakeSMC kext, as well as NullCPUPowerManagement.kext to the EFI partition after installation.
If I install Clover to GPT formatted USB stick, and if that stick appears in the boot menu with standard SATA as well as UEFI options for the drive, can I assume that I have UEFI boot on my machine??? I am dual-booting Win7-64bit on the same drive, and I am almost certain that it does not support UEFI boot (it barely supports GPT formatted drives).
I know I can boot Yosemite and Win7 with Chimera quite easily, and for my purposes, the extra few seconds wait is not important.
Is there a way to boot Clover off legacy MBR, and a guide to doing so, I am ready to go ahead with an in-place upgrade to Yosemite, along with Chimera 4.0x to get myself going. What do I need to install to the /Volumes/EFI/ACPI and Kexts/10.10 folders??!!
My machine is a P67 chipset, so I should not need the memfix EFI files, is this correct? Sandy Bridge chipset!!
All help and guidance gratefully received. Simply saying "install the package - it will work" will not be received well, as I have tried this twice, and failed spectacularly!! Guides with screenshots and detailed info is what I need. Other Sandy Bridge desktop examples too. Links to required ALC892/Network/DSDT-fixes/Clover .config examples would be great too.
PS. REMEMBER. I NEED to boot Win7-64bit off the same drive as Yosemite. ie: there is a System Reserved partition at the start of the drive.
