CPU: Intel i7 4770k MB: Asus Z97-WS GPU: Asus R9-290x OS X 10.10.3 Bootloader: Clover EFI-only
I've got my Asus R9 290x (reference design) up and running on 10.10.3 with the Exmoor (or Baladi) framebuffer for acceleration and multiple monitor support. I've also patched AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext for the card and verified it's matched in the kernel logs.
The problem I'm encountering is that the fan on the card don't speed up when the card is loaded leading to it overheating and the whole system crashing.
From what I've read across the forums it seems that a lot of people have no problem with this card.
So my question is, if you are using a 290/290x do your fan(s) on your card spin up under load? If so, what card do you have (manufacturer/model) and which bootloader are you using (I wonder if this is to do with booting UEFI vs BIOS)?
I'm hoping that I can identify another reference design card that works and just flash that VBIOS to my card.
