Tried a UEFI Clover/Yosemite install via USB HDD caddy, and failed miserably with my Acer Aspire 4752 laptop (currently running Mavericks 10.9.5 on MBR).

After install, replaced HDD, and Clover booted fine, showed OSX and Recovery partitions, but picking either option would (almost) instantly return to Clover.

I know that the laptop CANNOT see GPT partitions normally (and BIOS is totally locked down). Strangely, Clover being on the Fat32 EFI partition was bootable, but something in the BIOS refuses to boot GPT.

I had a hell of a time after restoring HDD, as no valid bootloader was present. I could only boot from DVD at this point, as every bootable OS X USB stick (I had three) all booted directly into Clover (although Chimera was installed on each). I needed to find a dual-layer DVD of Niresh 10.9, which booted the restored HDD fine, and allowed me to reinstall Chimera - phew! dodged a bullet there...

Next attempt, I will stick with Chimera/UniBeast patched for MBR, and installed via USB caddy. (for some reason, USB sticks are refusing to boot laptop now - probably a UEFI corruption). I should still be able to boot USB via DVD boot... might create Yosemite Zone dual-layer DVD for emergencies...

PS. I am picking up my new Hackintosh laptop tomorrow, so this is probably a moot point. Will be selling Acer Aspire to subsidise purchase.
