Hey all, I need some help as I have run into a bit of snag installing OS X Yosemite on my existing build. I tried to follow the guides as closely as I could without feeling like I downgraded; my build is the following:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI (wasn't originally the one I wanted but they messed up my order...so free upgrade)
CPU: Intel i7-4820K 3.7GHz Quad Core Processor
GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE GeForce GTX 960 OC 2GB GDDR5
RAM: 32GB Crucial Tactical Ballistix
Storage: 3 x Crucial BX100 250GB SATA SSD 1 x Hitachi 0f10311 2TB SATA 3.Gb/s 7200 RPM 32MB Buffer HDD
CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i Extreme Liquid CPU Cooler 240mm
PSU: Antec EarthWatts Platinum Series EA-650 650W
Chassis: Corsair Vengeance Series C70 Military Green Steel ATX Mid Tower
This was my third attempt at installing OS X Yosemite on my computer, after the first time I was feeling antsy and installed Windows 8.1 update 1 on the second drive. The third time actually worked, but it required I use a lot of boot flags:
- nv_disable=1
- npci=0x300
- cpus=1
- -v
- "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32@60"
- maxmem=2048
- IGPEnabler=No
- GraphicsEnabler=No
- PCIRoot=0
- PCIRootUID=1
- UseKernelCache=No
I believe this is what they are, and the ones I used. After using these I could boot into the OS X Installer but it was really glitchy and slow. I formatted my first hard drive and installed successfully, went through multibeast and all.
In order to boot into it I had to go to the boot settings and choose my drive, I then had one option for apple, clicked it, got options for apple and windows. I tried to boot into it off the bat, couldn't. Tried to boot into it using the flags, got in, really glitchy (black bars flashing across the screen). Then tried it again with the flags and it got stuck at the login screen.
I seem to be making progress, but I'm having a lot of troubles. If anyone could help me? Should I be using the tonymacx86 procedures or Clover? Am I doing anything extra? wrong? Let me know. Thank you
