Dual Monitor problem with DisplayPort(HDMI converter) and HDMI

So I have an apple DisplayPort to HDMI convertor and I want to use 2 monitor with my AMD Radeon 7770 Diamond, but overtime I connect the second monitor my computer freezes up. Is DisplayPort not supported? I'm on 10.10.1
