I want to get my Hackintosh completely updated to the newest software. This means Yosemite now and El Capitan when it emerges for my Mac side; and Windows 10 for my Windows side.

Unfortunately, I have not performed any major upgrades to my Hackintosh architecture since I built the machine. No BIOS upgrades, no boot loader upgrades—you name it, I haven't done it. Yes, this was dumb after all this time. (But I barely got it working in the first place, through over a dozen reinstalls of Windows, so I feel my desire to not fool around with a state of unstable equilibrium is a little justified.)

Can you help me along in this process?

I have two goals:

First, get my machine running both modern operating systems, a modern boot loader and BIOS without having to reinstall current operating systems, reinstall other programs, or lose my files.

Second, figure out why my Windows side exhibits strange sleep/wake/restart/USB port activity and fix it. (Might I have to head to a different subReddit for that? Probably.)

Thanks for the help!

System specifications: Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77X-UP5TH Operating systems: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 6.1.7601; Mac OS X 10.8.2 (I think—can't be sure about the Mountain Lion version)

Anything else I need to post?
